Creating, updating, and deleting the specific_platforms Rights API resource

March 24th, 2017 (Revision 1), print this page

We’ve added new API functionality to BeBanjo. This note describes this change in full, and as usual you can contact support or your Technical Account Manager for further clarification.

Ok, this release note is one for the techies. The BeBanjo Rights API lets anyone develop integrations between BeBanjo and external rights management systems. For instance, using the BeBanjo Rights API, a contracts management system can inform BeBanjo that you have the rights to exploit a title (e.g., Avatar) during a given period (e.g., 2017), with a given business model (e.g., SVOD), over a given territory (e.g., France).

You might also want to record platform-specific rights, e.g., rights to distribute only on “Samsung Smart TV” or on “iTunes UK”, irrespective of other rights dimensions such as business model or territory. Your deal with the licensor may explicitly say so.

Previously this was only possible in the user interface of BeBanjo, but now we’ve also exposed that functionality in the API.

You can find technical details on how to create such “specific_platforms” attributes for a Rights entity, in our online API documentation You will also find how to update and delete these attributes.

This new feature has let existing BeBanjo customers build new automations, returning new efficiencies to their teams. If you too want to remove manual steps from your workflow, and you need help putting this new feature to good use, let us know! We’ll happily give you a hand.
