Activity events for Segments

December 30th, 2016 (Revision 1), print this page

If you use Segments in BeBanjo, good news! Any change made to Segments now leaves a record in a Title’s activity log.

This note describes this change in full, and as usual you can contact support or your Technical Account Manager for further clarification.

Segments in BeBanjo are a way of recording the natural break points (or cue points) in an Asset (or Editorial Version). Typically, Segments are used to record where ads and promos can be inserted into an Asset. The Asset in the example below is made of three segments, and mid-roll ads can be inserted in between Segments, at timecode 00:12:42.120 and at timecode 00:21:32:240.

Segments can also be used to create “mash-ups”, where a new virtual Asset is made of different Segments from different Assets.

Now, if you make any change to a Segment associated with an Asset (e.g. add a Segment, remove it, change its start timecode or end timecode, etc…), an entry is recorded, and shown in the BeBanjo User Interface. Just go to the Activity tab of the corresponding title:

This audit trail is recorded in all cases, whether the change was made by a user of BeBanjo in the User Interface, or whether it was made by an external system integrated with BeBanjo via the BeBanjo APIs.

BeBanjo is about control and visiblity, and this enhancement is designed to give you a more comprehensive audit trail of all that is happening in the Title catalogue. We hope you find it useful!
