Better filtering of catch-up content in the VOD staging area

March 15th, 2017 (Revision 1), print this page

We’ve improved the filtering of catch-up content in the VOD staging area. This note describes this change in full, and as usual you can contact support or your Technical Account Manager for further clarification.

The VOD staging area (in the Catch-Up section) shows series and features that are present in a linear schedule but that do not have any VOD Rules defined, and that have not been discarded.

Before this change the filters for the VOD staging area only applied to the displayed results. This wasn’t consistent with how other similar pages work in BeBanjo and we thought we could do better.

Now when you first open the VOD staging area you’ll be shown the first 100 series and features for all channels, and you can then narrow your search by:

  • showing a specific channel
  • filtering by a type, i.e. series or feature
  • filtering by a title, i.e. a feature, episode, series, or brand

When you do that your filters are applied to all content that’s in the VOD staging area, not just the first 100 items that were displayed. Nifty. Here’s an example:

You’ll also notice that the page layout is now consistent with the schedule page with the filters at the top of the page, a more readable set of columns (Channel, Period, Title, and External ID), and icons for adding VOD rules or discarded a title.

One more thing! We also used to show series and features that are present in a linear and that have VOD rules, but where the catch-up schedule entries created by the VOD rules have a rights problem (i.e. they’re not cleared). That feature has been removed because the affected titles can easily be found in the Schedule and Rights sections.
