Catch-up rules for standalone titles

March 1st, 2017 (Revision 1), print this page

The Catch-up scheduling add-on is every broadcaster’s favourite. We have just extended its powers to now support standalone titles (in addition to series).

This note describes this change in full, and as usual you can contact support or your Technical Account Manager for further clarification.

The Catch-up scheduling add-on

The Catch-up scheduling add-on of BeBanjo makes it easy to create non-linear schedules that are based on linear schedules.

Typically, it is used by broadcasters who make content available on-demand for, say, 7 days after transmission on linear TV.

If the Catch-up scheduling add-on is enabled in your BeBanjo account, then you will see the Catch-up tab:

If you do not have the Catch-up scheduling add-on enabled, please speak to your Technical Account Manager.

VOD rules for standalone features

Until now, the Catch-up scheduling add-on only supported series. You could create VOD rules for all episodes in a series, or for selected episodes in a series.

Now, we’ve added the ability to create VOD rules for standalone features. Typically, standalone features in BeBanjo represent films.

To give it a go, select a standalone title in your catalogue, select the “VOD Rules” tab and press “Add VOD rule”:

You can then enter, like for a series, the parameters of the VOD rule, and BeBanjo will automatically calculate the non-linear schedule entries for the standalone features:

As you’d expect, the Catch-up scheduling add-on handles standalone titles just like series:

  • Under the “Catch-up” tab, both the VOD staging area page and the linear schedule page now show standalone titles
  • You can also “discard” a standalone title for VOD, from either the VOD staging area page or from the title’s VOD Rules tab
