We’re excited to announce the release of Multiple External IDs Phase 1, a long-awaited enhancement to help you manage and integrate your catalogue more effectively.
Let’s take a look 👇
✨ What’s new?
With Phase 1, you can now configure and display multiple External IDs in your catalogue, beyond the single legacy External ID you’ve been using until now. This gives you more flexibility to store IDs like Gracenote, IMDb, EIDR, or additional IDs from your upstream or downstream systems.
Here’s what you can do in Phase 1:
✅ Configure External IDs:
- The configuration page in Settings is available to admins only, ask your Customer Success Manager to configure this!
- Define the name of each External ID. A
keyword
is generated for API usage, based on the name. Even if the name changes later on, thekeyword
will stay the same. As an API integrator, you can browse all keywords using the External ID Types endpoint. - Specify its scope: choose which entities it applies to. With Phase 1, the supported entities are: Brand, Series, Collection, Feature, Episode, and Clip.
- Set it as unique if required. This configuration can only be set on creation and cannot be updated. If uniqueness is not enabled, an External ID can have repeated values across different catalogue records.
✅ View External IDs in the interface:
- External IDs, once configured, are visible against the relevant catalogue entities in the UI.
- You can hover over an External ID to see its full value (helpful for long IDs!) and copy it easily using the copy icon.
✅ Search by any External ID:
- You can search by any External ID using the Name filter in the Catalogue page, the Title filter in the Schedule page.
- You can also search via the global quick search at the top right of any page.
👀 What’s not (yet) included?
🚧 Editing and adding External ID values (beyond the legacy Default External ID) is not yet available directly in the UI. This must still be done via the API for now.
🚧 The current “Main” External ID remains fixed to the legacy default; this will become configurable in a future phase.

- The resources that allow multiple external IDs have also been updated to include this functionality.
Importantly, there are no foreseen breaking changes, and no adjustments to your existing integrations should be needed.
