Preassigned tasks in workflow templates

January 20th, 2016 (Revision 1), download as PDF

When defining a workflow template in Sequence you can now preassign tasks to a user. When a new workflow is created with that workflow template, those tasks will be automatically assigned to the relevant user.

This note describes what has changed in full, and as usual you can contact support or your technical account manager for further clarification.

Saving the universe, one click at a time…

Task assignment is a really useful feature in Sequence, providing clarity as to who’s responsible for a given task and enabling users to build work lists for themselves.

What wasn’t so great was that if your workflow dictated that specific tasks were always performed by the same user then the only option you had was to manually assign the tasks (in bulk if necessary) to that user after the workflows had been created.

And really, we’ve all got better things to be doing with our time…

Never fear, we’ve got your back! Now, when you create or edit a workflow template in Sequence you’ll see that you can preassign a task to user:

In this example, whenever a workflow is created with this template the Mezzanine File Reception & Spot Check task will be automatically assigned to Kylo Ren, hopefully keeping him busy and diverting him from dastardly schemes to destroy the resistance
