Rights improvements (I)

In the spirit of continuous improvement, we have recently released some changes to rights that will hopefully make your lives easier. Please, note that this is just a prequel of a much bigger change, a whole new —and very powerful— rights page. That will come soon, but meanwhile, let’s explore what we have been working on…

This note describes this change in full, and, as usual, you can contact support or your Technical Account Manager for further clarification.

First, let’s check the new look for rights:

The UI feels fresher and more modern, rights can be collapsed on demand (very useful for content with many rights) and there’s a new way to add blackouts and to deny rights:

The form to add or update a right has been updated too:

As has the way to keep notes for a particular right:

Last, but not least, there’s now a field to give a name to a right. For content with many rights, giving them a descriptive name could be a great time-saver when looking for something specific:

Then, two other related improvements for rights that are part of a deal. As you might already know, those rights “inherit” some of their properties from the deal (like the license windows), but you can still adjust them individually. The consequence of doing that is that the right is not in sync with the deal anymore, and any subsequent change to the deal will not be reflected on the right. Fear no more, we’ve clarified that and provided a fix:

1. Now, it’s easier to know if a right is in sync with its deal or not. Just go to the right and you’ll notice that there’s a new icon to indicate that:

   

   The first one is still part of the deal, but the second has been edited on its own.

2. OK, but how can I make it follow the deal again? We knew that you were going to ask that… Just go to the deal, find the license window (right) and you’ll notice that there’s a new button to sync them again:
